socks and Doc's

I got some new stripy pink socks to wear with my doc martens mary janes the other day.

They're pretty cool and should be ok to wear with my suit and pink work shirt too ;)  Mixing it up!

Anyway - I had a little time on my hands, so I thought I'd treat you to a fashion show. Also, for the occasion, I wore my capri-length tight cropped jeans and jumper dress - a combination that I would dearly love to have the balls to wear out in public!

Hope you like :)

Dressing for pleasure

So, I picked up a bundle of girls clothes - a gorgeous mini kilt, a puffed sleeved ivory top with bow on the chest, some over the knee socks.  Fantastic.  All good things to play with if you have Mary Janes ;)

I spent the week waiting to wear them, but really didn't get the opportunity as I had other commitments, but thats ok, just one of those things.

I had hoped to drive a couple of hours, dress up, lock my male clothes in a bag and then be forced to drive home dressed up, but that never really happened.  All I got to do was to go shopping wearing my black Amanda MJ's and white lace socks.  That was still fun tho.

Anyway, at the airport, I had an idea and got changed (in the airport carpark) into 3/4 length skinny girls jeans, my brown docs (no socks) and drove to a local mall.  I decided to just go for it - brazen, in girls jeans and shoes in broad daylight.

I got some stares - man, plenty of those, but nothing else - no hassle, nothing.

I picked up a gorgeous black puff sleeved t-shirt, a pink girls sports polo and a mid thigh length knit dress/top and walked over to pay.  Not one look.  Plenty of stares on the way out, particularly as I changed into the tunic top in the toilets ;)

No shame!

So, I now have a complete outfit - perfect tight crop jeans, lots of shoes that fit and can be easily worn with bare feet and a few tops depending on how daring I'm feeling.  I can wear the pink polo and the tight jeans (which have bling all over the back pockets) and know that I look right on the bleeding edge of male/female clothing.  Cropped jeans are popular over here with men too, although they're a different shape cut.  Bare feet with shoes - same deal.  Just not with brown twin strap MJ Docs :)

I went out to the chemist all dressed up, tunic top, jeans, burgundy docs - bold as brass, walked right in.  The sales girl didn't bat an eyelid.

I have a plan for tomorrow.  Its daring, bold and fucking scary.

Take the pink polo, crop jeans, brown docs to work in a bag.  After work, go to the mall in the city, change, lock my male clothes in the bag, forcing me to travel home on the train in girl clothes top to bottom (yes, I even have underwear - I'll spare you the details)

I'll leave the padlock keys in my car (and a backup somewhere else, just in case).  I'll have no choice.  I have to go home, on the train, with people I might see every day, possibly at work, I wont really know, dressed up in a very questionable outfit.

I wonder if I'll go through with it?

shopping

So, one of the first things I did when I got off the plane was to go shopping.  As you know, I kinda like playing dress up and stuff, so I decided to get a few items of clothing that I couldn't get at home, including some cool pink socks.  Oh yes.

To traipse around the shop, I wore my black Amanda MJ' and white lacy schoolgirl socks, which are fairly obvious!

I love these shoes, but even with these socks, nobody batted an eyelid.  Even when I went to the checkout with an armful of girls clothes and pink socks.

Later in the trip, I went to a huge shopping mall dressed in the same shoe/sock combo to get even more girls clothes.  I came away with a few interesting items but didn't quite get the opportunity to dress in some obviously girly clothes as well.

I really wish I'd pushed it a little further now.  A lot further.  Ah well.  I put that thought to one side for another day and I have some stories to tell about that!!  Oh yes!  And I have plenty of ideas to take this further too.

In other news, I got my black t-bar docs stretched.  They were, if you remember, a bit too small and made my feet hurt after a few hours.  Well, I found a proper old school cobbler who was brilliant - he stuck them on his jig for 24 hours and they fit a lot better now.  Enough to maybe wear them for another extended outing.

Around the world in Mary Janes

I have some good news.  My new brown twin strap Doc's are actually a better fit that I first thought, all is not lost as I had previously supposed!!!

I've worn them a few times and they actually fit perfectly - woo for a size 7 then :)

Anyway, I had to go on another trip, and just like last time, I thought I'd wear a pair of my Doc's - what better opportunity than to take my new brown ones for a spin.

They are actually seriously girly when you look at them - the perforations on the toe just scream 'little girl' - I think the brown finish actually makes them more girly rather than less.

So, I donned a nice clean pair of white socks (of course), packed my Amanda ones too with the knee high white lacy socks and set off.  I too some photos as I went about my travels, at the airport, stop over and all sorts.

They're very cool shoes and they fitted well enough that I wore them for 24 hours straight with no issues, including some very long walks through the airport where I had to change planes.  I got tons of looks, quizzical expressions, stares etc, but no comments.  None at all.  You really can just do what you want, nobody will question you.  I was worried about being snapped with a cam phone and plastered on the internet, but somehow I don't think that's a big deal.  Maybe someones facebook page has a picture of me on, who knows!

Anyway, on the way back, I did the same thing, I'd washed my socks with super whitening powder so they really shone and glowed.  Lots of people noticed, again, nobody said a thing.  I'm a bit disappointed really, one of these days I'd like a nice girl to comment!!

Such a lot of fun, especially at the baggage reclaim, everyone was trying not to look.  Brilliant.

It was sad to come home again, knowing I'd have to take them off.  Except I had other ideas ;)  But before I tell you about that, there's more from my trip that I need to share - you'll have to wait till next time ;)

Socks!

So, sorry for my absence, it's not as if I don't have stories either, I'm just slack!

To whet your appetite, here's a pic of my gorgeous triple straps with some new pink socks I picked up a week back. I was going to wear them to work with my new and equally gorgeous pink polo shirt that I bought only yesterday, but it's a new job and I don't want to rock the boat in week 2! So it's ordinary shoes with the pink socks - still a good combo though!

more adventures

I had lots of opportunity yesterday to go out in my new brown Doc Martens, so I made the most of it - 3 separate occasions!

1.  Shopping
2.  Hair cut
3.  Errands

Awesome - got totally spotted by a little kid whilst shopping who pointed me out to her mum, who really didn't care.  I want some pretty young girls to notice!!  Dammit!

I love these shoes so much.  Now I just need a nice pair of pink socks and a pink polo to wear with them!

The haircut and errands didn't cause any undue surprises - nobody really noticed which was a shame, but there you go.

I really want to go out with these whilst wearing shorts or a short skirt and over the knee argyle or white knit socks, schoolgirl style, but I don't think that would be wise in broad daylight!

However, I can see myself playing one of games one of these days - changing out of my male clothes and locking them in a bag, leaving me with no choice but to go retrieve the ket in whatever I am wearing.  I'm going to buy some cropped jeans next week and also some very girly tunic type tops to go with them - those with the shoes with some girly socks could be quite interesting to explain away!!

Anyway, for now, just the shoes :)

Oh man, its happened again

Sorry for the hiatus, I just haven't had the chance for hi-jinks recently - I know, lame, you don't have to tell me.

Anyway, last time, I had just bought some lovely brand new brown twin-strap Doc Marten mary-jane type shoes, only to discover that they were too small as they were a Chinese variant of the shoe which has a totally different shape to the UK made ones.

So I have (if anyone wants them and are a UK size 7) - a pair of redundant brown shoes.

I decided to scour ebay again in search of some larger ones, some UK8's or US 10 - they'll be fine as thats closer to my actual shoe size.  This took a little time, and with Christmas in the middle, I had to wait until I could justify opening my wallet again ;)

Anyway, a gorgeous pair of hardly worn brown US size 10 twin straps show up and I'm there like a shot.  They arrive yesterday and I realise they are pretty tight.

They are a UK 7 - even though they were advertised as a US 10, which is an 8.

Bugger.

They're lovely though, and only a little small (at least compared to the actual size 10's from before that I really can't wear) so I think I'll keep them and try to stretch them a little to make them fit.  Somehow the brown ones are actually more girly than the black ones - I was expecting it to be the other way around!  Ah well - should be fun when I wear them out then ;)

So - photos for your viewing pleasure!  I wore them with my lacy school socks, just to set them off - cute huh?

Hopefully I'll get more chances this week to wear these shoes, we'll see how it goes - anything I do manage will get blogged - promise!

working in girls shoes and socks

After a couple of times of wearing mary janes to the office with dark socks, I decided to wear the Amanda black Doc Martens with purple girly stripy socks.

I was pretty nervous about this as these shoes are unambiguously girls shoes (not like the brown triple straps t-bars, which are sufficiently funky that they kinda cross over a bit) and with my bosses and also the team I manage in the office too, it could all go horribly wrong.

I slipped the shoes on in the car and made the decision to just go with it and walked into the station and onto my train.  Too late to back out now.  I did think about it, but the doors closed and that was that, I was committed to a day in girls shoes and socks.

Walking out of the station and to the office drew plenty of quick glances - I think sometimes people notice, but don't really understand what they just saw until a few moments later.  People walking behind me must get longer to think about it, but noone has ever said anything.

In the office I kinda just got on with my job, even chatted to the sales director quite happily for a bit about a recent project - not a big deal.  Until I looked down at my feet and panicked slightly!

Girls shoes!

I survived the day okay and took myself off home.  One girl on the station platform noticed and looked at me directly in the eyes for some time as if she was trying to suss me out, but I'm cool with it and she kinda shrugged and went on her way without saying anything.  Sometimes I wish girls would say something though!!

Back in the carpark at the station I switched shoes - sad that I had to take them off to go home.  I love these shoes, there about as girly as I can get away with in public I think.

shopping

I had a little free time so I decided to run some errands - in, of course, girls shoes - what else!

First - I went to the supermarket - it was after work, so pretty busy and I had chosen to wear the 'Amanda' style mary janes with some blue stripy socks - very obvious!

I was a little worried I might bump into someone I knew, but no, I was lucky - is it wise to run such a gauntlet every time?  I suppose I'll only know when I meet someone close to me when I'm dolled up in a dress or something ;)

Anyway - nobody noticed me, despite the glaringly non manly footwear.  I am going to wear them into work tomorrow as well, just because I can!

I took a little video on my way back through the car park - forgive the quality, youtube seems to mangle all my iphone vids and make them a lot grainer than they really are

All day docs

I wore my black t-bar docs to work on Friday - green stripy socks and everything - it was awesome!  Lots of people noticed them, but nobody really said anything.  As they they are sufficiently androgynous I thought I'd actually draw some attention to them by mentioning socks and stuff, but nobody picked up the bait.  Maybe I really do have to wear the double strap t-bars into work to get a rise!

As I mentioned before, they are a little small, and my feet were cursing me as I had to walk a few miles at lunchtime to pick up something from a friend - d'oh!  By the time I got back I was almost hobbling.  I might have to sell them and find a bigger size - they just aren't wearable for that length of time :(

I had a company function later and I got a few glances from some of the gorgeous girls in the office - but dammit, they didn't say anything either!

One of my colleagues noticed as he kept on looking at my shoes - maybe he wanted some too ;)

As I was kinda busy all day, I only got one unspectacular picture

By the time I got home, my feet were killing me and it took a good few hours for them to relax and get sensation back.  No blisters, but some red marks on my toes in a few places.  I'm so going to have to chop these in for a pair of UK 8's

some me time

Its been a slightly frustrating couple of weeks for shoe wearing - I've just not had the opportunity :(

I went out to get fish and chips and wore the black t-bar Doc's with stripy socks - that was cool, but they are pretty much a gender neutral combination, so that was almost too easy!

Then, after a week of not being able to do anything, I went out shopping yesterday in the brown triple straps which was cool.  I was a bit worried that I might see someone I knew, but then I thought, nah, fuck it.

Hope you like the shoe/sock combination!

In the store:

In the car park in gorgeous sunshine.

I have a company function this week - I am very tempted to wear the back t-bar MJ's and just ride roller coaster - people can love them or hate them - they are part of me now and I don't care!

Saturday at the shops

So, I decided to go the shops in my Docs.  On a Saturday, when it's really busy.  I wasn't expecting to meet anyone I knew, but just in case, I decided to go for a bit of a gamble and wear the black shiny double strap t-bars with purple socks - very alternative and actually damn obvious!  I did get a few looks, from blokes this time - was probably the socks that did it!

Then, on the way home I had to pop into a couple of smaller shops, so I switched shoes and socks for the new burgundy DM's and lacy schoolgirl socks.  Awesome and very difficult to pass off - still, I went for it all the same.  The trick is to not act like there is something wrong.  Brazen it out and nobody really notices, and if they do, your confidence kinda tells them its ok.  Wonderful thing, the human psyche.

Shoe update

So, as I suspected, the new shoes were just out of the box tight.

First up, the black t-bars.

I had the chance to wear the t-bars all day and although the strap is a little tight, they are perfectly fine and comfy to wear and look very cool - a cross between normal DM's and Mary Janes.  With these socks, they're definitely on the girly side.  That said, I wore them all day in the office at work and nobody said a thing.  I'm pretty sure I could get away with these in most settings.

I took the time to wander out for lunch and do some shopping.  It was very satisfying to walk about in girls shoes with girls socks on.  I did get a few looks, but they're pretty discrete and nobody really noticed.  They're more obvious when I'm walking - thats when some people do spot them.

Second up, the burgundy twin straps

I had a go in the burgundy ones in the office too - they're much less discrete and really unmistakably feminine - no bloke really wears red shoes, especially with purple stripy socks!  But nobody said anything, I doubt if they even noticed.  I snapped a few cheeky photos whilst noone was looking.

Now these are some shoes are could get really out there in.  I kinda figured I'd be better off waiting for a better location where I didn't know anyone and took them off pretty quickly as I don't want people at work to get too clued up.  They're a bit tight on the right foot, but they're brand new, never been worn and I reckon some more outings will have them stretched and comfortable.

Next up, Saturday afternoon shopping.

parcels, for me? woo!

So, my news shoes arrived today - the burgandy twin straps and the black t-bars.  They're great, but a little tight again - gah!  I think I'll have to order size 8UK from now on as it seems that newer Doc's run a little small.  The black twin straps I got first are a pretty good fit as a size 7, but the last 3 pairs I have run small.

They're still wearable though - and hopefully they'll stretch as I wear them more - I have the black ones on (at work) right now and they're ok length wise, but the straps are just too small for the height of my instep.  Must be a male/female foot thing.

I have some purple stripy socks on today, which really set the shoes off nicely - time for a walk around town I think :)  I really want to get some womens skinny leg jeans, so maybe now would be a good time to wander down town and see if I can persuade the staff to let me try some on ;)

travelling around the world

I took a trip 1/2 way around the world last week and as I was getting out of my car at the airport I thought 'why not', so I quickly packed my comfy male shoes (which are actually t-bar like in themselves) and picked out the brown Dr Martens triple straps and some plain white socks to go with them (I always keep some shoes in the car, just in case I get the urge ;) )

Before I could change my mind, I was walking across the carpark towards departures and joining the queue for check-in.

With white socks, these shoes stand out a little on a guy and I got LOTS of curious looks in the check-in line!  At first I was quite embarrassed, but then I just kinda went with it and started to regret not wearing one of the more girly pairs and some lacy socks!  Maybe next time, although I think I might throw caution to the wind and do the trip in high heeled boots ;)

Anyway, it was all pretty easy, even taking my shoes off through security didn't cause any problems, although the lady at the end of the x-ray did a massive double take when I took the shoes out of the little tray and buckled them up in front of her :)

Walking through my transfer hub (a major international airport) drew more stares, particularly in the lounge for my connecting flight, where a gorgeous blonde girl was staring at me and my shoes for ages.  I wish I'd worn the Amanda MJ's now, they would have been more obvious and confronting.  No men noticed whatsoever, only the girls.  I'd had dark socks on, I doubt people would have given me a second thought, but the white socks really draw in the eye.

So I arrived at my destination without any trouble and drew more stares at baggage reclaim, one older woman in her 60's just could not help herself and kept on looking down at my feet and then at me, but she didn't say anything.

Later that week, I wore the shoes out (with dark socks) to meet with some close friends, but they didn't notice.  Neither did my sister - the shoes were in plain view in her hallway all day but I guess they look innocuous enough, its only when paired with different socks that they become something other then just shoes.

On my way home, I decided to buy some cool socks (can't get anything like this where I live) and wear them with the shoes all the way home.  Man, did these get some looks!!  Checking in, sitting in the airport (Heathrow is very busy), waiting in the lounge was the best, so many girls looking at me!

Walking through the transfer airport again wasn't so rewarding as on the way out, but I still got a huge kick out of it.  Picking up my luggage again was pretty painless and then that was it, off home and change shoes before I drove off.

Next time I do the trip, I fancy doing it in some high heeled boots!  Oh yeah, bring it on.
